All of us want our lives to matter. We care about what happens to our family and to the people in our circle and community when we're gone or leave the business. French chemist Louis Pasteur called this a prepared mind. Planning should itself be a source of confidence, but something feels missing from ours. Investments feel canned, the plan ignores health risks and concentrated stuck assets, or performance doesn't justify the fees. When we ask about tax planning, we're told, "Don't let the tax tail wag the investment dog." Translated: "don't bother us." We feel like there should be more from wealth planning.
